Established in 2000, APA have grown to become one of the larger Architectural practices in Taranaki which is a direct reflection of the high level of service provided and customer satisfaction. Services provided in-house architecture, interior design and fire design.
Ardern Peters Architects Ltd was established in 2000 by John Ardern & Eldon Peters. John and Eldon retired in 2018, with APA being led by directors, Glen Robinson, Jeff Salisbury, Stefan Pirie & Tim Bland.
Glen Robinson has been a part of the Ardern Peters team since 2013, and a director since 2014. He completed his Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2006, graduating with Honours from Victoria University of Wellington, and has worked exclusively in Taranaki ever since. An associate member of NZIA with Registered Architect status, particular areas of interest include design and property planning for educational facilities, residential and light commercial design. Glen has accumulated good experience with hospitality design ranging from small café’s through to conference and event building. To compliment this experience he also has strong experience in fire design for Light Commercial, Residential & Educational facilities.
Jeff Salisbury joined Ardern Peters Architects as a director in April 2015, bringing with him nearly 20 years professional architectural experience, plus the added value of ‘real world’ building experience. A former director of the award winning engineering and architecture firm, Chapman Oulsnam Speirs Ltd., Jeff graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture with Honours in 1995. He was awarded Registered Architect status in 1999. With a philosophy that good buildings are crafted, he has a number of award winning and significant projects to his credit including King and Queen Hotel Suites, NPBHS Crammond wing, new homes and alterations, commercial, hospitality and school projects. He is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Architects, and a former committee member and chair of the NZIA Western branch. Jeff’s strong interest in the Arts has also seen him elected as a trustee of the Taranaki Arts Community Trust and he founded and is convenor of the Oakura Arts Trail, and an establishing committee member of the Taranaki Arts Trail. Jeff is a member of the St John North Taranaki area committee providing governance to St John activities in North Taranaki. He is married with two young sons who love hanging out in their home workshop.
Stefan Pirie joined Ardern Peters in 2015 after moving from Southland with his wife. Prior to starting at Ardern Peters he worked in a larger practice in Brisbane focussing on Institutional and healthcare projects before returning to Invercargill to work in a smaller practice. While there he was involved in varied projects including concept design of the St John Southland regional hub. Stefan completed a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2006, graduating with Honours from Victoria University of Wellington, is a Registered Architect and a member of the NZIA. Stefan has a broad range of experience, having worked on everything from residential alterations and new builds, commercial and aged care work through to large healthcare & institutional projects in excess of $500 million. He enjoys creating practical and well considered buildings which are both fit for purpose and fit for budget.
Tim Bland is a Registered Architect who joined Ardern Peters Architects in 2009 after returning from Wellington where he gained a Bachelor of Architecture with First Class Honors from Victoria University. Tim was born and raised in New Plymouth and enjoys the culture and lifestyle that New Plymouth has to offer. He took some time away from APA in 2015 where he moved to Vancouver BC, Canada gaining additional architectural experience in high rise residential and commercial projects. Tim eventually rejoined the APA team and became a director in 2018 and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Architects. He is married with three young children, and when he finds the time enjoys playing football and participating in cycling, running and triathlon events.
